1. Admission Policy

Surugadai University wants students who sympathize with the University's founding principle of “heartfelt education,” and drive themselves to play a central role in society with a global point of view at all times.

We warmly welcome applicants with a fundamental knowledge of what was learned in high school and who are interested in issues and want to learn and think about the relationship of the issues to their own lives; who have acquired the ability to give their opinions; and who have a strong desire to make use of knowledge and skills learned at university and in society.

2. What we expect you have acquired in high school

As University education is made up of what you learned in high school, applicants need to:

(1)have finished a wide range of arts and science subjects and have fundamental academic skills.

(2)have fundamental academic skills for reading comprehension and ability to learn Integrated Japanese.

(3)have the ability to act as a member of a team.

(4)be able to explain social and cultural issues based on knowledge and information.

To select the entrants as described above, we conduct diverse entrance examinations such as achievement tests, oral examinations, document screening, trial lessons and assignments.

Faculty of Law

(2) have fundamental academic skill for reading comprehension and ability of expression due to learning Integrated Japanese language and Japanese.

(3) have the ability to act as a member of a team.

(4) be able to think about social and cultural issues logically and then explain what they realize based on their knowledge and information.

To select the entrants as described above, we conduct diverse entrance examinations such as achievement tests, oral examinations, document screening, trial lessons and assignments.

Faculty of Economics and Management

(1) have finished a wide range of arts and science subjects and have fundamental academic skills.

(2) have fundamental academic skills for reading comprehension and ability to learn Integrated Japanese language and English.

(4) be able to explain social and cultural issues based on knowledge and information.

(5) have an interest in economics and management and be willing to draw on the expertise and experience of economics and management, applying to their career and society.

Faculty of Media and Information Resources

We warmly welcome applicants with a fundamental knowledge of what was learned in high school and who are interested in economic and management issues around them; and learn and think about the relationship of the issues to their own lives; who have acquired the ability to give their opinions; and who have a strong desire to make use of knowledge and skills of economic and management learned at university and in society.

(4) be able to explain social and cultural issues based on knowledge and information by having proper access to newspapers, TV and the Internet.。

Faculty of Psychology

1. Admission policy

We want students who are interested in human behavior and psychology as well as issues in the real life such as mental health, social pathology, parent-child relationships and child development. Applicants are expected to be actively involved in such issues. We warmly welcome applicants who want to deepen their study beyond high school and acquire more knowledge to make use of it in society.

2. What we expect you have learned and acquired in high school

In addition to the admission policy, the applicants are expected to be equipped with:

(1) a wide range of arts and science classes and have fundamental academic skills, particularly Japanese and mathematics. Japanese language proficiency is important to explain and understand human psychology and mathematics is also important in Psychology to understand the issues surrounding human beings.

(2) fundamental academic skills for reading comprehension and ability of expression due to learning Integrated Japanese language and English; with these abilities applicants are expected to have good communication skills.

(3) the ability to act as a member of a team.

(4) behavior to deal with social and cultural issues in relation to mental health and promotion of social welfare based on knowledge and information.
